Surrender Your Heart to God

Pride is so extremely subtle and religion is such a powerful ally, that self in its effort to stay alive and in control of your life, turns to them for assistance. Rather than submit to denial and crucifixion, self becomes religious and adopts the outward forms of piety and spirituality, while not at all yielding to the inward workings of God, and not at all lovingly obeying Him in truth. In this way an outward appearance of Truth is constructed, while inwardly, the heart has never surrendered to God.
